The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures invites applications from candidates with a specialization in Greek and Roman History for the three-year term appointment in Greek and Roman Studies to begin in August 2002. Teaching responsibilities include courses in ancient Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as in the history, literature, and society of ancient Greece and Rome. This position will be expected to contribute to Rhodes' core humanities program, "The Search for Values in the Light of Western History and Religion." We invite applicants who are committed to innovation and growth both as teachers and scholars and are seeking opportunities for interdisciplinary work in the context of a highly selective college of the liberal arts and sciences. As a member of the Associated Colleges of the South, Rhodes actively participates in the programs of Sunoikisis (www.sunoikisis.org). The college expects candidates to hold a Ph.D. and have acquired teaching experience.
