RUTGERS UNIVERSITY – NEW BRUNSWICK, NJ (Two Positions)

IMPORTANT ANNOUNCEMENT

Rutgers University, New Brunswick, NJ has just informed us that the opening for a committed teacher and outstanding scholar with a specialty in archaic, classical, or Hellenistic Greek Poetry listed as "subject to final budgetary authorization" in the November 2006 edition of PfC&A is now a definite position. The application deadline for this position has been extended to May 15, 2007, and is now "open rank" to accommodate those who could qualify for a tenured professorship. Further, the position will now commence in September 2008.

Candidates who applied previously do not need to submit another application, but should let the Department know of their continuing interest and may add supplementary materials.

The Department of Classics of Rutgers University-New Brunswick is seeking to fill two openings for the 2007-2008 academic year.

POSITION ONE: A position at the level of beginning to mid-level associate professor (tenured) or advanced assistant professor (tenure-track) for a committed teacher and outstanding scholar with a specialty in archaic, classical or Hellenistic Greek poetry.

POSITION TWO: A one-year position (renewable) for a generalist prepared to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in one or more of the following areas: Latin and Greek language and literature, Classical mythology, or Greek and Roman civilization and culture. ABD applicants should anticipate completion of the Ph.D. by June 2007.
