Curator of Western Antiquities –The San Antonio Museum of Art seeks a highly motivated scholar to curate and oversee its important collection of Western Antiquities, including Mediterranean, western Asiatic, and Egyptian materials. The San Antonio Museum of Art has one of the finest collections of ancient Greek, Roman, and Egyptian art in the United States, and this position represents a significant opportunity for a specialist in art of the ancient world. Responsibilities will include care and maintenance of the permanent collections and oversight of their installation, conservation, and publication. Curator is expected to conduct research on the collection and participate in the planning and implementation of special projects centered on the Museum s ancient art collections. This endowed position requires a Ph.D. in art history or other relevant field, a minimum of two years of museum work, and experience working directly with ancient art objects. Excellent verbal and writing skills are also necessary. Compensation is commensurate with experience.
