Approved tenure-track position, assistant professor, effective Fall 2006, in Department of Classics, San Francisco State University. Ph.D. in hand or assured of completion before time of appointment. Department seeks an interdisciplinary general classicist, expertise in material culture and focus on Roman world in its wider Mediterranean context; teaching undergraduate courses in classical archaeology and culture, ancient languages, and M.A. seminars in area of specialty [for example: cultural interaction (e.g., Rome and Egypt or Rome and Near East), ethnicity, gender, religion, magic]. Excellence in teaching is department's highest priority; scholarship and service very important. Salary negotiable.
