Ancient Music Open Mic Night, SCS 2024
Call For Participants

This year the SCS will present a Saturday evening concert hosted by John Franklin (UVM). We seek performers of ‘ancient music’ broadly understood—songs and music inspired by ancient history, literature, mythology, or musical techniques—originals and covers, modern instruments or ancient replicas—and of course surviving pieces collected in Pöhlmann and West, Documents of Ancient Greek Music (Oxford, 2001). We also want chorus members to help sing the Seikilos epitaph, Mesomedes’ Hymn to Nemesis, and the First Delphic Paian to a band of lyre, aulos, and frame drum (rehearsal videos / sheet music will be provided). Please send brief proposals and expressions of interest to john.franklin@uvm.edu.
