NYU Center for Ancient Studies
Emerging Scholars Video Series

The Emerging Scholars video series pairs PhD students with NYU faculty members to discuss innovative approaches to the study of the ancient world. Such research can focus on new topics and questions and/or incorporate non-traditional materials and methods. We are also interested in highlighting the work of scholars from groups that are and have historically been marginalized and underrepresented in the fields of ancient studies and the academy at large.

The format of these videos features individual PhD candidates who briefly describe their research and then engage in conversation with an NYU faculty member that positions this work in relation to broader scholarship. These videos will be advertised as part of the Center's academic program and highlighted on our website.

We seek proposals from advanced graduate students working on the ancient world, broadly conceived. In order to submit a proposal, please send a short abstract (250 words or less) on your topic of research along with a current CV to ancient.studies@nyu.edu. We welcome new proposals on a rolling basis.

If you have any questions or need further information, please contact the Director of the Emerging Scholars Project, Hallie Franks, at hmf2@nyu.edu.
