Through the Lens presents a selection of fifty thought-provoking images by Latif Al Ani from the collections of the Arab Image Foundation, archival lithographs and engravings from the 1850s, and contemporary multimedia artworks. The exhibition moves from the personal stories of Al Ani and the featured contemporary Iraqi artists (Abidin, Hattom, Malallah, Obaidi, and Siti) to reveal the complex reality of communal identity, bringing to the front issues of reclamation, cultural decolonization, memory and loss, and heritage.
