Dr. Anthony "Tony" Podlecki, beloved husband of Jennifer Grube Podlecki, died on Monday, July 31, 2023. Beginning his academic career as a professor at Northwestern, he went on to head the Classics departments at Penn State and UBC. In addition to teaching, 'Podders' (as he was affectionately dubbed by his UBC's Arts One class) published research, articles, books and translations, becoming a frequently sought-after resource on Ancient Greek History and Literature. Tony is survived by his wife, Jennifer; and children, Chris Podlecki of Vancouver, and Julia Podlecki Kroon (Brian) of Rutledge, PA; and grandchildren, Patrick Kroon, Matthew Kroon, Kali Mohammed and Kieran Mohammed. Tony was predeceased by his daughter, Antonia Michelle Mohammed (Kevin). Tony loved singing in choirs, including Vancouver's Bach Choir, and was always ready for one more adventure. He will be missed by all who knew him.
