October is National Arts and Humanities Month! During October, we encourage you to celebrate the arts and humanities through free, online events and resources that teach about the ancient world to the broader public. Anyone with an interest in ancient Greek and Latin, classical literature, ancient history, or archaeology can learn more and get involved.
Below is a list of free events and resources to explore this month. This list is not exhaustive, and we encourage you to check out additional public outreach programs celebrating the arts and humanities:
- Subscribe to Pasts Imperfect, a newsletter supporting writers, editors, and creators of a global antiquity.
- Attend a Book Club or Archaeogaming event through the Save Ancient Studies Alliance (SASA).
- Read the latest blog posts and interviews from Peopling the Past.
- Attend a free lecture through the Archaeological Institute of America’s (AIA) National Lecture Program.
- Explore the interactive online resource, Queering the Past(s), supported by The Classical Association.
- Watch the archive of free lectures hosted by All About the Ancient World (AATAW).
- Check out ASOR’s collection of online resources and education materials.
- Read the latest posts on the SCS Blog, and stay up-to-date with the latest news, opportunities, and announcements on the SCS Newsfeed.
