Dear SCS member,
This message contains important updates about the summer elections for officers and committee members and about new staff at the SCS office in New York.
You can now find election materials, including a sample ballot, on our website. Voting will open in early August. Please do not fill out and return the sample ballot.
This week two new staff joined the SCS New York office.
Jim Harvey is the Society's new Director of Meetings. Jim has over fifteen years of experience as an event planner with academic and not-for-profit organizations. He was also the Senior Convention Services and Operations Manager for the Jacob K. Javits Convention Center. He earned a BA in Drama from Brooklyn College and an MFA in Drama from Carnegie Mellon University. Jim's email address is jah28@nyu.edu
Erik Shell is the Society's Communications and Services Coordinator. He received his BA degrees in Classics and History at the University of Maryland. He has worked for the Center for Hellenic Studies as a Fellowships and Curricular Development intern, founded the one-off Undergraduate conference known as MAUCC, and has worked as an editor and reviewer for several online publications including Digital Humanities Quarterly and the International Journal of Student Research in Archaeology. Erik will oversee the Placement Service and various aspects of the Society’s communications.
