SOUTHERN ILLINOIS UNIVERSITY CARBONDALE – CARBONDALE, IL
The position is for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Classics. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Classics or related field. If all Ph.D. requirements are not completed by August 16, 2007, a one-year appointment at the rank of instructor, at a reduced rate of pay, will be offered. The duties are to lead our Latin program and teach a large general-education course in Roman civilization and other courses in our Classics program (www.siu.edu/~dfll/classics) and to demonstrate ongoing scholarship. Evidence of or promise of scholarly productivity and teaching are required. Preference given to candidates with research interests in some aspect of the Roman World, including Latin literature, Roman history, or Roman material culture. The normal teaching load is five courses per year.
