Assistant Professor of Classics. The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at Saint Joseph's University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Classics. Candidates should be prepared to teach Latin and Greek language and literature at all undergraduate levels and to develop new interdisciplinary courses for the Classics curriculum that support the Latin/Classics major and minor. The primary research interest of applicants should be Roman culture and civilization. Candidates should also be qualified to teach courses in Greek and Roman art and archaeology. The teaching load is 3/3. The university requires foreign language study as part of its general education curriculum. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in Classical Philology or Classical Archaeology in hand by June 1, 2010 and must be able to document effectiveness as a teacher and an active research agenda.
