The Department of Classics, SUNY Buffalo, invites applications and nominations for a senior appointment in Classics. Candidates should have a scholarly specialization in ancient Greek language and literature, preferably of the Archaic and/or Classical periods. The department is seeking a scholar with the stature, status, and accomplishments that would justify consideration for appointment to an endowed chair in Classics. Candidates should demonstrate a record of substantial publication, evidence of national and international recognition, and a record of effective teaching. The holder of this position will be expected to teach Greek literature in the original language and in translation, at both undergraduate and graduate levels; to supervise graduate research projects; to carry on an active program of scholarly research; and to engage in the intellectual life of the department and university.
