Duties: The Department of History at the State University of New York at New Paltz invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor specializing in the history of the Ancient Mediterranean up to late antiquity. The position will begin in Fall 2013. Sub-field is open. Duties of the successful candidate will include teaching undergraduate and graduate courses in Ancient history. Possible courses include: Ancient World, Ancient Greece, Ancient Rome, Roman Women, and additional courses in the candidate’s specialization. The successful applicant will also contribute to advising undergraduate history majors and/or minors. Graduate students are primarily secondary education/social studies candidates in an M.S. or M.A.T. program. The teaching course load will be 3/3 (20 credits).

Qualifications: Ph.D. is preferred; exceptional ABD candidates with a firm completion date will be considered. Post-secondary teaching experience is highly desired.
