Temple University - Philadelphia, PA
The Department of Classics at Temple University had hoped to make a joint appointment in Classics and Intellectual Heritage (listed below). While such an appointment is still possible, large budget cuts have decreased its likelihood, and enrollments in Greek and Latin have continued to surge. Thus, Classics now seeks to identify possible part-time instructors in Greek or Latin. Candidates should be at least ABD, have evidence of successful teaching experience, and a flexible schedule.

If a full-time position materializes during the summer, duties will be 2/3 in Intellectual Heritage and 1/3 in Classics. Those who were interviewed at the Annual Meeting can indicate whether they will be available at a late date.

Questions and applications should be sent to Robin Mitchell-Boyask, Chair, Classics Dept., Temple University, 353 Anderson Hall, 1114 W. Berks St., Philadelphia, PA, 19122. E-mail address: robin@temple.edu; phone: (215) 204-3672. E-mail inquiries are preferred.

Temple University announces possible Visiting Assistant Professorships for 2002-2003 in the program in Intellectual Heritage and Department of Greek, Hebrew and Roman Classics. The position has the possibility of renewal. Interviews will be conducted at APA meeting in Philadelphia. Candidates should immediately send a cover letter, preferably by e-mail, with curriculum vitae (as an attachment) indicating ability and experience for teaching Greek, Latin and classical culture courses at all undergraduate levels, and in the Intellectual Heritage two-semester sequence required of all Temple undergraduates. The first semester of IH contains a large Greek component and the course is writing-intensive. Applicants should consult the IH web site http://courses.temple.edu/IH. E-mail applications should go to Intellectual Heritage Director Daniel Tompkins at pericles@temple.edu, and Classics Chair Robin Mitchell-Boyask, robin@temple.edu. Address paper applications to Daniel Tompkins, Director, Intellectual Heritage, 214 Anderson Hall, 1114 W. Berks St., Temple University, Philadelphia, PA, 19122. Phone: (215) 204-4900.
