Furman University announces a tenure-track, open rank position to begin August 2018. The Classics department seeks a scholar who values a liberal arts environment in which an integrated approach to teaching, collaborative learning, and scholarship is supported and rewarded. We seek a broadly-trained classicist: we welcome scholars in any area of specialization, but candidates should have a thoughtful approach to teaching Greek and Latin, to engaging the broadest possible community in the study of the ancient world, and to the rigorous application of technology to humanism. The teaching load is five courses per year over two semesters.

Especially distinguished candidates will be considered for a three-year Mellon Fellowship, which will provide additional support for research and teaching.
