POSITION ONE: The Department of Classical Studies at Trinity University has a vacancy for a one-semester, non-tenure-track position with the rank of Instructor or Visiting Assistant Professor for Spring semester 2003 (January 15-May 13, 2003) to replace a professor on academic leave. The teaching load is 3 courses, salary in the range of 18K-20K. Ph.D. completed by December 2002 and evidence of successful teaching experience desired. The successful candidate will ideally be teaching two undergraduate courses in Greek and one general undergraduate course in the area of the candidate's choice. POSITION TWO: The Department of Classical Studies at Trinity University invites applications for a definite tenure-track position with the rank of Assistant Professor, beginning August 2003. Candidates are expected to have a high aptitude and enthusiasm for undergraduate teaching and a strong commitment to scholarship. The Department seeks candidates with broad interests, who are able to teach undergraduate Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as general courses in classical civilization. The area of specialization is open, but applications from those with special interests in mythology, social history, anthropology, religion, gender and sexuality, cultural studies, race and identity, or multi-disciplinary approaches to the study of antiquity will be particularly welcome. The Ph.D. must be completed by August 2003.
