The Department of Classics at Tufts University invites applications for a tenure-track position in the Archaeology of the Ancient Mediterranean and Europe to begin in September of 2005. The Department is committed to the development of a strong program in the archaeology of the Ancient World extending from the Atlantic to the Ancient Near East. Candidates must have a Ph.D. in hand, demonstrate evidence of strong teaching, and an innovative research agenda in archaeology that includes new or existing fieldwork. Applicants must be able to teach courses in Greek and Roman archaeology and the archaeology of ancient Europe. The ability to teach courses in one or more of the following areas is also welcome: archaeological theory and practice, ancient material culture, aspects of the economy, society, and culture of the Ancient World, and the subdisciplines of archaeology.
