The Department of Classical Studies at Tulane University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor to begin in August 2012. Applicants should have a specialization in the general area of the history and culture of the eastern Mediterranean in the Hellenistic and/or Roman period(s). The teaching load is two courses per semester. While the appointment will be in the Department of Classical Studies, it will also carry the obligation to teach one course each year for the major in Jewish Studies. Applicants should be prepared to teach two (or more) such courses for Jewish Studies in alternating years.
