TULANE UNIVERSITY – NEW ORLEANS, LA (Two Positions)
Tulane University placed two ads in the October 2008 issue. The first position was originally listed as a tenure-track opening, but due to recent (January 2009) budgetary restrictions, Tulane is now forced to restructure the opening as a one-year Visiting Assistant Professorship.

The second position listing is for a Visiting Assistant Professor/Roman Studies. In the ad, Tulane mentions that the review of applications for this VAP position would commence in February, 2009. Because of the state of the economy, Tulane has requested that they be permitted to begin reviewing applications for this position now (January 2009) as opposed to waiting until February 2009 as stated in the ad, as they would rather make an appointment sooner rather than lose the funding by having to wait another month. Because Tulane's ad has been in circulation with the Placement Service since October 2008, we are granting permission for them to begin their application review process now (January 2009).
