POSITION ONE: The Department of Classics at Union College seeks to appoint a Hellenist at the rank of assistant professor of Classics. This is a tenure-track position that will begin in September 2005. Union employs a trimester system, and the normal teaching load is two courses per term. Teaching responsibilities include ancient Greek and Latin at all undergraduate levels as well as general courses in translation. Candidates who can offer undergraduate courses in archaeology should draw this to the attention of the committee. Union offers substantial support for scholarship, and candidates for this position must demonstrate strong potential for research and publication as well as excellence in undergraduate teaching. This is a one-year sabbatical replacement that will begin in September 2005. The academic year ends in the third week of June 2006. The area of specialization is open.
