Assistant Professor. The Department of Classical Studies, Anthropology and Archaeology at The University of Akron seeks a full-time, tenure-track assistant professor in Classical Studies starting August 2008. This uniquely multidisciplinary department offers a curriculum in four fields. The successful candidate will have an active research agenda, demonstrable excellence in teaching and an interest in working with student-researchers. We seek a broadly trained classicist, preferably a Hellenist, with research interests in archaeology or drawing from the material culture of the ancient world. Other interests should complement those of the department. Teaching includes both lower and upper division courses. Classical Studies has a strong position in the General Education requirements of the university, with courses in ancient athletics, Greek myth, introduction to the ancient world, and an upper division course in Greek literature in translation.
