The Department of Classics at the University of Arizona is seeking two highly qualified candidates for the position of Visiting Assistant Professor for the academic year 2013-2014. This appointment will begin August 19, 2013. Candidates must have received, or will be receiving, their Ph.D. in Classics or a related discipline by August 1, 2013.

The successful candidates will be expected and should be prepared to teach some combination of undergraduate Classics courses, large enrollment general education Classics courses, including classes in culture and literature taught in English translation, and Latin and Greek at all levels. The teaching load is three courses per semester.

Preference will be given to candidates with demonstrated evidence of excellence in teaching, especially large enrollment classes.

This is a full-time and benefits-eligible position. This position is neither tenure-eligible nor tenure track. Review of applications will begin on June 18, 2013. The position will remain open until filled and interviews will be conducted by SKYPE.
