The Classics Department at the University of Arizona seeks candidates for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Classical Archaeology. The appointment will be effective with the ten-month academic year beginning August 2001. The successful candidate will teach a normal course load as determined by departmental policy. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in a related field, have a demonstrated record of teaching excellence in Classical Archaeology and Civilization, and possess an interest in developing and teaching high enrollment general education courses as well as small graduate seminars. Preferred qualifications include extensive archaeological field experience (including directing one's own excavation), an attachment to an overseas program or institution, and the ability to teach ancient Greek and Latin on occasion. A research emphasis on Greek Archaeology of the Classical and Hellenistic periods is also preferred.
