UNIVERSITY OF ARIZONA – TUCSON, AZ
The Department of Classics at the University of Arizona invites nominations and applications for a tenure-track position of Assistant Professor. This appointment will begin August 2007. We are seeking a Hellenist, with concentration in the areas of historiography and religion, who possesses broad expertise in Greek and Latin literature. Candidate is expected to teach beginning through advanced Greek and Latin and Classics courses in translation. The candidate must have Ph.D. in hand and show evidence of teaching experience and effectiveness.

Duties Include: Teach beginning through advanced Greek and Latin and Classics courses in translation; Ability to successfully teach large enrollment courses in mythology and the classical tradition is highly desirable, as is familiarity with Greco-Roman Egypt and/or the ancient Near East. Must actively engage in mentoring students and in departmental service. Salary and benefits are competitive. Review of dossiers will begin November 1st, 2006, and the position will be open until filled. We will hold interviews at the APA meeting in San Diego, January 2007.
