Lecturer in Classics and Ancient History

The Department of Classics and Ancient History at the University of Auckland is seeking to fill an academic position at the Lecturer level.

The successful candidate must have completed a doctorate and be able to teach Latin language and literature to graduate level and offer courses in classical literature and culture in translation. Prior teaching experience will be an advantage, as will an ability to contribute also to the teaching of Greek language and literature; research achievement must be demonstrable.

The Department of Classics and Ancient History is one of New Zealand's top-ranked departments in that field, offering programmes in Latin, Greek and Ancient History to post-graduate level and a major in Classical Studies at the undergraduate level. The department has a strong profile in the Faculty of Arts based on its high quality graduate programme and research activity in the ancient civilisations of Greece, Rome and Egypt.
