UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA-BERKELEY, CA
The Departments of Classics and Comparative Literature at the University of California at Berkeley seek to make a full-time visiting junior appointment (as Assistant Professor, or other appropriate title depending on qualifications and experience) for a special replacement position in the area of Latin literature and/or Roman culture, effective July 1, 2000. The initial appointment will be for one year with possibility of renewal. Ph.D. or equivalent must be in hand by July 1, 2000. Preference will be given to candidates whose work has a strong comparative or interdisciplinary dimension; we are especially interested in candidates with research and teaching backgrounds in such areas of Roman culture as gender studies, material culture and social history, and/or in the area of medieval studies. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience.
