The Program in Classics at the University of California, Davis, invites applications for the position of Lecturer in Classics. Candidates must have an M.A. or Ph.D. in Classics or a closely related field. Prior teaching experience is required. The initial appointment is for 2011-2012 with the possibility for reappointment, subject to annual review, and, after 18 quarters of service and demonstrated excellence in teaching, for a continuing appointment. The successful candidate will have responsibility for running the elementary Greek program and should be prepared to teach five days per week and hold two non-consecutive office hours during the week. Candidates will be expected to teach 7 or 8 (quarter) courses per year selected from the following: Latin and Greek language and literature, Classical mythology, Greek and Roman civilization and culture, Women in the Ancient World, etymology. Salary will be contingent upon qualifications and experience. Interviews will be conducted at the APA-AIA meetings in San Antonio in January 2011. The position will remain open until filled, but review of the dossiers will begin on December 1, 2010. The position is covered by a collective bargaining agreement.
