UNIVERSITY OF CALIFORNIA – IRVINE, CA
The Department of Classics at the University of California, Irvine invites applications for a tenured appointment at the Associate or beginning Full Professor level to commence July 1, 2007. Candidates for this position must have a substantial record of publication and be able to demonstrate an ongoing program of research as well as distinguished teaching at the graduate and undergraduate level. The successful candidate will be expected to contribute to the department's undergraduate program and to a growing research-intensive doctoral program in collaboration with two other University of California campuses (San Diego and Riverside.)

The area of specialization is open, but special consideration will be given to candidates specializing in areas not covered by our current faculty. The department is particularly interested in Hellenists or Latinists who combine a thorough training in Classics with interests in other humanities disciplines.

School of Humanities/Department of History – Mediterranean World

The University of California, Irvine, is seeking applicants for a tenure track assistant professor with a specialty in some aspect of the history of the Mediterranean region (broadly construed) prior to 800 C.E. Possible specialties of special interest include but are not limited to: religion, state formation, trade, history of science and/or medicine, gender history, environmental history. Interest in participating in the department's world history initiative is expected.
