The Department of Classics at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Lecturer, effective July 1, 2001 for the academic year 2001-2002. Candidates must have the Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by July 1, 2001. We are seeking a broadly trained classicist who is able to teach large lecture classes in classical civilization as well as Greek and Latin language at all levels. Evidence of teaching experience is encouraged.   2. The Department of Classics at the University of California, Los Angeles, invites applications for a full-time position at the rank of Assistant Professor (tenure-track), effective July 1, 2001. Candidates must have the Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by July 1, 2001. The department seeks to add to its faculty a specialist in Greek literature and culture. It is particularly interested in candidates with a research focus in drama or epic. The successful candidate will demonstrate evidence of scholarship and a commitment to teach a wide variety of courses at the graduate and undergraduate level, both in Greek and Latin and in translation.   3. The Cotsen Institute of Archaeology at UCLA invites applications for the annual Cotsen Visiting Scholars position. The purpose of this visiting scholars program is to invite an archaeologist (recent Ph.D. to senior scholar) to join the Cotsen Institute of Archaeology and to teach one graduate seminar, to conduct his or her own research and writing, and to participate in the activities of the Institute during the 2001-02 academic year. The Cotsen Visiting Scholar will be in residence for a period of one to three 10-week quarters (Oct. 1 - June 20). A stipend of $35,000 is available, plus a small amount of research money. Candidates should send a letter of application that describes their current research, the proposed research/writing activities at the Institute, and the proposed seminar that they will teach at UCLA.
