The Department of Classics at the University of California, Los Angeles invites applications for a possible one-year position at the rank of Lecturer, effective July 1, 2003, pending budgetary approval. Candidates must have the Ph.D. or equivalent in hand by July 1, 2003. We are seeking a broadly trained classicist who is able to teach both large lecture classes in classical civilization as well as Latin and Greek at all undergraduate levels. Preference will be given to Latinists who have research interests in imperial or post-classical Latin. Expected teaching load would include supervision of a robust beginning Latin program (90 students & 5 graduate student instructors in Latin 1); undergraduate reading courses in Latin; and classical civilization courses in areas of Roman culture and literature.
