Roman History. The Department of History at the University of Chicago invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professorship in Roman History. The field is open though some preference will be given to those with interests in social, economic, or cultural history. Familiarity with ancillary skills such as archaeology, epigraphy, or numismatics is also highly desirable. The most important considerations for the position will be scholarly originality and intellectual depth. The Ph.D. degree must be in hand by July 1, 2008, when the appointment begins.
