The Department of Classics invites applications for a possible one-year Assistant Professorship in Latin Philology. Applicants should have completed the dissertation. The University of Cincinnati invites applications and nominations for the position of Head of the Department of Classics. The headship responsibilities include leadership and advocacy of the department's academic programs and management of the department's budget, class schedules, course offerings, teaching assignments, and staff. The appointment will be at the rank of advanced Associate or Full Professor. Applicants from outside the University of Cincinnati must have a research specialization in the history of Greece and Rome. Candidates should demonstrate a record of substantial publication, evidence of national and international recognition, and a record of effective teaching. The department offers the B.A., M.A., and Ph.D. degrees and has twelve full-time faculty members (five philologists, four archaeologists, three historians). It is housed as a single unit with offices, classrooms, lecture halls, and the library occupying adjoining floors. Its library contains one of the largest and best Classics, Byzantine, and Modern Greek collections in the world. The Department of Classics invites applications for a new, tenure track assistant Professorship in Classical Philology with a specialty in Greek or Latin or both. Fields of special interest to the department include Early Greek Epic, Greek Historical authors, Silver Latin Prose or poetry, Greek Patristics or late Greek literature, and Hellenistic Philosophy. Since the Cincinnati Department includes ancient historians and archaeologists, applications from scholars with interdisciplinary interests and those with experience in new research methods are most welcome.
