Faculty position in Late Antiquity. The Departments of History and Modern and Classical Languages invite applications for an anticipated, joint tenure-track appointment at the Assistant Professor level beginning August, 1999, in the social and cultural history of Late Antiquity. Candidates should be committed to interdisciplinary approaches and be willing to help develop and promote a broad-based program in Ancient Mediterranean Studies. Interest in one or more of the following areas of scholarship would be considered a plus: cultural identities, gender, religion and society, literature within a cultural context. Teaching of Late Antiquity, Greek and Roman History and Civilization, and ancient texts expected. Opportunities for graduate teaching exist in programs in History, Medieval Studies, Comparative Literature, and Judaic Studies. PhD required. Teaching experience and publications preferred.
