Possible position, Visiting Adjunct Professor of Classics, temporary replacement, 2000-2001; Ph.D. desirable. Fall, 2000, Part-time (2 courses, $2,000 per course for ABD, $2500 with Ph.D.). Spring, 2001, could perhaps become full-time (3-4 courses), salary competitive. We are seeking a general Classicist to teach courses in both languages at all levels, whose primary interests are in literary and philosophical interpretation of major authors in the Greek, Roman, or early Christian periods. Training in other divisions of the humanities as well as Classics is desirable. The University of Dallas is a Catholic institution which proposes education in intellectual and moral virtue through study of the intellectual traditions of the West and their application to the modern world. Candidates are thus expected to have a more than antiquarian or aesthetic interest in classical studies.
