FRANKLIN TEACHING FELLOW: The Department of Classics of the University of Georgia will appoint a Franklin Teaching Fellow, at the rank of Temporary Assistant Professor, to begin August 1, 1999. Starting salary is $30,000, including full benefits package. This is a postdoctoral teaching appointment for recent Ph.D.s, administered by the University's Franklin College of Arts and Sciences and the Institute for Higher Education. Franklin Fellows teach five undergraduate courses per year, participate in a teacher development and mentoring program conducted by the Institute of Higher Education, and pursue a program of scholarly research. Teaching and research specialties are open. Fellows will be expected to teach within the full range of courses offered by the department (Greek, Latin, and Classical Culture). Candidates must have received the Ph.D. degree within the past three years (1996 or later), in any case by March 1, 1999. Appointment is for one academic year and is renewable for a total of three years.
