The Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures at the University of Idaho invites applications for a tenure-track position in Classics with the rank Assistant Professor, beginning August 2008; specialization in Latin with the requisite background to teach Greek and Roman Civilization. Teaching duties include a three course teaching load per semester, with courses in beginning and intermediate/advanced Latin and in the civilization of ancient Greece and Rome; additional courses as needed in beginning Greek and the literature of ancient Greece and Rome in English translation. Required qualifications: Ph.D. in Classics or Ancient History and Civilization (Greece and Rome), or closely related field; degree in hand by August 2008; strong commitment to undergraduate teaching; evidence of potential for success in a program of scholarly research. Desired qualifications include record of successful college/university teaching in classical studies.
