The Department of Classics invites applications for the position of Assistant Professor of Classics, with research and teaching specialization in ancient Greek or Roman art and archaeology. This is a tenure-track appointment, to begin August 2001 or January 2002. Teaching responsibilities will be two courses per semester, with emphasis on undergraduate Classics courses in Greek and Roman art history and archaeology. Course rotation will include at least one graduate course in ancient art, and occasional courses in Greek and/or Latin language or literature. Required qualifications include: Ph.D. by start date, specialization in ancient Greek or Roman art and archaeology, and ability to teach ancient Greek or Latin. Preferred qualifications include: excavation experience and/or experience as curator; and ability to teach a course on women in ancient culture. Salary competitive.
