Professor for the Archaeology of Ancient Mediterranean Cultures and their Relationship to the Ancient Near East and Egypt

Department of History and Sociology. The position is to be filled from October, 1st, 2008.

The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching the period between the early first millenium B.C. and the sixth century A.D. The candidate's specialization may lie in the Ancient Near East/Egypt or in classical archaeology. An ability to teach either the Graeco-Roman perception of the Ancient Near East or the near-eastern perception of the Graeco-Roman world is expected. The candidate will teach students taking Education and Bachelor/Master courses in History, as well as students in the inter-disciplinary Bachelor/Master programme "Cultures of Antiquity". Participation in the Cluster of Excellence 16 "Cultural Foundations for Integration" is also expected.
