The Department of Classics invites applications for a full-time senior position at the rank of Professor or Associate Professor, to begin in the Fall 2009 semester. The successful candidate should be a productive scholar with substantial publications and a continuing interest in high-level research. He/she will have documented expertise in oral Latin and the teaching of the Latin language through active methodologies and will be expected to make significant contributions to the Latin and Classical Humanities track of the University's MA in Applied Linguistics. Candidates should also be prepared to teach classical literature and civilization at all levels.

We seek applicants committed to undergraduate education at a public, urban institution serving a highly diverse student body and to graduate education aimed primarily at teachers of Latin.
