The Department of Classics at the University of Massachusetts invites applications for a full-time tenure-track position at the rank of Assistant Professor effective September 2006. We seek someone with a Ph.D. in Classical Archaeology or in Classics with an area of specialization in ancient Greek or Roman archaeology. The successful candidate must demonstrate the ability to teach undergraduate courses in Greek and Roman archaeology, classical civilization, and Latin or ancient Greek at the intermediate and advanced levels. Evidence of a program of original research and publication must also be provided. The possibility of providing students with field archaeology experience will be regarded favorably.
