The Department of Classics at the University of Massachusetts-Amherst invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor to begin September 2001. A Ph.D. in Classics is required along with a demonstrated interest in teaching. Teaching responsibilities include a 3-2 load with courses in Latin and Greek and Classics in translation. We seek a general classicist with a specialty in Latin poetry (Republic/early Empire) and an active interest in research. The successful candidate will also be expected to play an ongoing role in the department's MAT program. Salary is negotiable and competitive.
