Pending funding, the Department of History at the University of Michigan invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professorship in ancient Greek history, starting in September 2007. Applications are welcome from scholars representing a wide range of specialized fields and interpretive approaches in all periods of ancient Greek history, including archaic, classical, and Hellenistic. Teaching will include an undergraduate survey course in ancient Greek history, undergraduate courses in topics and fields, graduate seminars, and supervision of doctoral dissertations. Ph.D. required prior to employment. Applicants should furnish a placement dossier consisting of a CV, at least three recommendation letters, statements about research and teaching, and evidence of teaching excellence.
