Chair in New Testament and Christian Studies. The Department of Classical and Near Eastern Studies in the College of Liberal Arts at the University of Minnesota seeks nominations and applications of scholars of international stature for the Sundet Family Chair in New Testament and Christian Studies. The Sundet Chair is a full-time nine-month tenured position to begin no earlier than fall semester 2005. The rank will be professor or associate professor, depending on qualifications and experience and consistent with collegiate and university policies. Ph.D., Th.D., or equivalent foreign degree in a relevant field with a specialty in New Testament or Early Christian Studies is required.

Area of specialization within the fields of New Testament and early Christianity is open, though an ability to contribute to a broad curriculum in ancient Mediterranean studies, and especially to the department's M.A. program in Religions of Antiquity, is expected. Excellent skills in Greek are required. Responsibilities in the position will include active pursuit of a program of research and publication, graduate and undergraduate advising and teaching, including a basic survey of the New Testament, and service to the department and university.
