POSITION ONE: The Department of Classics at the University of Mississippi invites specialists in ancient Greek language and literature to apply for the tenure-track position of assistant professor, to begin in academic year 2002-2003. Candidates with primary research interests in Greek poetry or drama are encouraged to apply. Applicants must be able to teach Greek and Latin at all levels to undergraduate and graduate students, as well as courses in Classical civilization, such as ancient literature in translation, Classical mythology, medical terminology, women in antiquity, or sports in the ancient world. A Ph.D. in Classics is required. Starting date for this position is mid-August, 2002. POSITION TWO: The Department of Classics at the University of Mississippi invites specialists in Latin language and literature to apply for a one-year, non-tenure-track appointment at the rank of Acting Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will have the Ph.D. in hand (although ABD applicants will be considered), with teaching experience in Latin, Greek, and courses in Classical civilization, such as ancient literature in translation, Classical mythology, medical terminology, women in antiquity, or sports in the ancient world.
