UNIVERSITY OF MONTREAL - MONTREAL, QUEBEC, CANADA
The Department of History of the University of Montreal, the principal French-language University of its city, seeks to appoint a Roman historian to a full-time tenure-track position (budgetary approval pending). The appointment will take effect on 1 June 2002.

The successful candidate must have sufficient skills in French to teach in that language from the beginning of the appointment. Duties will include teaching from the undergraduate through the doctoral level within the successful candidate's specialty, and possibly in other areas. The successful candidate will take part in the activities of the Centre d'études classiques, which administers the programs in classics.

A doctorate in history or a related subject (such as Classics), completed at the time of application, is required, as are a publication record and (preferably) some experience in teaching. Applications will be accepted until the position is filled, though it is recommended that they be made before 1 December 2001.
