UNIVERSITY OF NEW HAMPSHIRE – DURHAM, NH

The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures at the University of New Hampshire is seeking to appoint a Lecturer (non-tenure track) in Classics for the 2011-2012 academic year. The teaching load will be three courses a semester. Fall courses will very likely include a large lecture course in Classical Mythology and beginning or intermediate Latin language courses. Spring assignments will probably be similar. The appointee should, therefore, show the ability to teach these courses and, if possible, provide evidence of past success in doing so.

The salary is $34,000 (plus benefits) for the nine-month academic year for those with a Ph.D. in hand. If the successful candidate is ABD at the start of the appointment, the salary will be $32,000. Qualified applicants who wish to be considered for the position should send a letter of application describing their teaching experience and interests, a curriculum vitae, graduate transcripts (only for those who are ABD or received their Ph.D. after 2007; unofficial copies are fine) and three letters of reference to: Prof. Stephen Trzaskoma, Chair, Classics Lecturer Search Committee, Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures, University of New Hampshire, Murkland Hall, 15 Library Way, Durham, NH 03824.

Applications and supporting materials must be received by March 7, 2011 to receive full consideration. Email inquiries about the search should be directed to s.trzaskoma@unh.edu.
