The University of New Mexico, Department of Foreign Languages and Literatures, invites applications for an approved tenure-track position in Classical Languages & Literatures at the rank of Assistant Professor beginning August 2002. The Ph.D. in Classics is required by the appointment starting date; applicants should also be able to demonstrate scholarly promise in written academic work and evidence of excellence in teaching. We are particularly interested in applicants with a specialization in Latin literature, but we welcome applications from specialists in any field of Classical literature. The successful candidate will be part of a vibrant, fast-growing program in Classics at UNM, and may be asked to teach courses in Greek and Latin at all levels, as well as courses in Classical Civilization; applicants who express an interest in developing interdisciplinary undergraduate courses in Comparative Literature/ Cultural Studies will be given special consideration.
