We are seeking applicants with expertise in any field devoted to the study of Greece, Egypt and/or the Near East up to Late Antiquity.

Essential criteria: a Ph.D. or near completion (or equivalent); demonstrated teaching ability; demonstrated research ability with a publication record appropriate to opportunity; capacity to offer survey courses in ancient history, world history and related areas, and to contribute to and develop the School's existing range of courses; ability and willingness to supervise honours and postgraduate students; understanding of equity and diversity principles; knowledge of Occupational Health and Safety responsibilities and commitment to attending relevant OHS training. Desirable criterion: expertise in cross-cultural contact between ancient peoples. The salary range for Lecturer is A$61,450 – A$72,411 per year depending on qualifications and experience. This salary includes a superable UNSW academic loading of A$3,000 per annum payable to all academic staff (pro rata for fractional academic staff).

Membership of a University approved superannuation scheme is a condition of employment. This post is available from second session in 2005.
