UNIVERSITY OF NORTH CAROLINA ‚ CHAPEL HILL, NC (Two Positions)

The Department of Classics at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill has been authorized to search for two tenure track positions, one in Greek prose and one in Latin prose. Both positions are open to applications at the Assistant or Associate Professor level, but only one appointment may be filled at the Associate Professor level. An appointment at the Associate Professor level could be tenured, or on a short tenure track. Ph.D. and previous teaching experience preferred. The Department encourages applications from women and minority candidates.

POSITION ONE: Applicants for the Greek prose position should specialize in Greek prose literature, historiography, and/or related fields such as epigraphy, religion, law, or social history. Candidates will be expected to teach undergraduate and graduate courses in their areas of specialization, courses in Greek language, and at least one course with broad appeal to non-majors. Candidates at the Associate Professor level will also be expected to be able to direct graduate theses and dissertations. POSITION TWO: Applicants for the Latin prose position should specialize in Latin prose literature, historiography, and/or related fields such as epigraphy, religion, law, or social history. Candidates at the Associate Professor level will also be expected to be able to direct graduate theses and dissertations.
